Charity Begins on the Bridge

Chakotay fought the urge to grab Neelix by the shoulders and shake some sense into him. The Talaxian had no idea how irritable Starfleet captains could be when setting “an example” for the crew.

“Neelix, did you tell the captain that she shouldn’t replicate coffee?”

“I said that the crew has to use alternative food sources, and the captain leads the way.”

“If you’d realized what she’s like without coffee, you’d understand why the crew would rather the captain indulge herself.”

Neelix took the PADD Chakotay offered. “A thousand credits?”

“For her coffee. When that runs out, we’ll donate more.”
